Luxury Yacht Group is led by President Rupert Connor, a respected expert in the yachting industry. He is actively involved in every aspect of operations within the company including charter, yacht management, crew placement, and sales. When asked about the direction of the company he states, “At Luxury Yacht Group we are small enough for personalized, quality service and large enough for superior results.”
Originally from Buckinghamshire, England, he moved to the U.S. in 1999 after spending nine years at sea as a professional yacht captain. He made his first delivery in 1988, and since then, has navigated six Atlantic crossings, two Pacific crossings, four passages in the Suez Canal, and two passages in the Panama Canal.
With his extensive knowledge of the seas and dedication to research, Rupert and Luxury Yacht Group have become “go to” resources for industry statistics, trends, surveys, and change initiatives. As an industry authority, Rupert has been quoted by major yachting publications such as Dockwalk, The Yacht Report, Power & Motoryacht, The Triton, as well as international media with coverage by CNN, the International Herald Tribune, New York Times, and on NBC's "Today" show. Likewise, he is invited to speak regularly on a variety of yachting topics. His previous presentations have included: Seatrade Miami, The Mariners Club, FYBA Charter Seminars, Project USA, Triton’s Connection, Show, Caribbean Shipping Association, and other numerous international venues. Outside of the office, Rupert can be found training. Traveling the world to compete, Rupert completed the Ironman Malaysia in 2008 with a time of 13h 27m. Here in our own backyard, Rupert won his age group in the South Florida Sprint Triathlon Series 2009. Most recently, he finished the Ironman UK 2010 in a time of 13h 10m and placed 4th in his age group in the 2010 South Florida Sprint series.
