Luxury Yacht Group has the resources available to help you ensure that your vessel is drug free.

Maintaining a safe and drug free workplace is a legal obligation for the yacht owner and captain. Regardless of the lost productivity and potential accidents caused by having a crew that uses drugs, the legal systems in most countries will seize the yacht whenever drugs are found onboard.

Luxury Yacht Group can provide pre-employment and regular drug testing of all onboard personnel. Testing is conducted using very reliable hair analysis through the most reliable laboratory in the USA. Hair testing is considered 300% more reliable than urine testing.

Luxury Yacht Group personnel can also coordinate vessel inspections using off-duty K9 units from local law enforcement agencies.

All testing is conducted on a confidential basis protecting the yacht owner, captain and crew from negative exposure in the event of a positive test result.

In the event of a positive test Luxury Yacht Group personnel can provide advice for suitable action by the employer.

Why should we promote a drug free workplace onboard a yacht?

1) It's the law in the USA to provide a drug free workplace. Failure to provide a drug free workplace will result in significant financial liability for the yacht owner who can be sued for failing to provide a drug free workplace. Even as a foreign flagged yacht you are subject to US law whilst in US waters.
2) 80% of internal embezzlement, fraud and pilferage loss in the work place is drug related.
3) 70% of drug users are employed
4) 35% of all cocaine users sell to co-workers to support their own drug habit (DEA)
5) 65% of all workplace accidents are the direct result of substance abuse (OSHA)
6) US Government reports that 9.7 Million Americans used marijuana in the last month. (Institute for a drug free workplace)
7) Employees who don't use drugs are more productive than those that do...A drug user will -
        - use 300% more sick benefits
        - have 250% more absences of 8 days or more
        - request more time off from work 220% of the time
        - is late for work 300% more
        - is involved in workplace accidents 300% more often

Anybody involved in the hiring process should have a clear drug policy so that they can never be accused of operating negligent hiring practices.
